Using the fragility and impermanence of 16mm film, I have documented social history throughout England during a decade of great divide and unrest.
Employing social documentarian and cinéma-pur methodologies, my coverage encompasses the breadth of this country's society and diverse culture.
Further works explore mortality, masculinity, solitude, and ritual, referencing and dissecting my upbringing.
In 2022, my film Mirrors, supported by BFI Doc Society, premiered in the International Short Competition at Sheffield DocFest and was later longlisted for BIFA Best Short Film.
My first feature documentary, Shadows, is now in production and examines class structure, identity, and the balance of power in England.
Artist Moving Image | 16mm | 4:3 | 20 min The artwork dismantles, examines, and purges past experiences through a journey from perpetual isolation to liberty, solitude, and acceptance.
Comprising of a dozen vignettes, each moving portrait is a sensitive and, at times, surreal exploration between documentary truth and poetic interpretation.
Before developing the film, the material was shaken, agitated, and dragged across the artist’s hands and body in total darkness, impregnating the already exposed film emulsion with their sweat and skin.
